“Hope from the ashes: tales from Afghanistan” is the second photo exhibition on this topic, but the first in Lithuania. I am aiming to present the colorful, diverse, and constantly evolving face of Afghanistan. This country carries a fascinating

history that resembles a time machine: from the ruins of Rumi’s ancient home to modern street art, from the brutal reality of war and its victims to the faces of playful children. War has been raging for the last 40 years in Afghanistan, and at the first glimpse Afghan society is very conservative, but now a young generation is breaking down barriers, pouring into the streets, and fighting for their freedom and voice.
